Preparations underway for return of “Spooky in the Park”

October 13,2023

With just two weeks to go, the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for one of its largest events of the year, “Spooky in the Park” on Friday, Oct. 27 from 5 to 8 p.m.

“We are so excited to be able to bring this family-friendly spooky event back to Johnny Henderson Family Park,” EPRD Program Coordinator Krista Hooper said. “This event draws hundreds of kids and their families. Thanks to our sponsors, we are able to offer so many festive activities free of charge.”

Activities this year include a spooky maze, face painting, inflatables and a trunk-or-treat alley. Registration is currently underway for the costume contest, which includes categories for all ages, families and groups, and dogs.

Hooper said to bring some cash if you would like to shop or grab something to eat from the food vendors. Different marketplace vendors will be selling gift items, jewelry, kids toys and more.

This is the first year since 2019 that the event will be held in Johnny Henderson Family Park.  The annual Spooky event was adapted to meet social distancing requirements during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. Hooper said while the community enjoyed “Spooky in the City,” it was time to return the event to where it first started.

“For more than 13 years, the City of Enterprise has celebrated Halloween in some spook-tacular way. We are looking forward to bringing everyone back together in the park and hope to set a new record for number of participants.”
