Fee increase for EPRD programs to start Oct. 1

September 21,2023

The Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department will institute a new fee policy for athletic programs effective October 1.

“Participation in Enterprise Parks and Recreation athletic programs is rapidly growing, and this increase will allow us to continue to provide top-tier equipment and facilities for our citizens,” Parks and Recreation Superintendent Blake Moore said. “Last year, we had more than 1800 youth participate in our athletic programs, and we are on pace this year to top that number.  Our youth deserve the very best and this slight increase will allow us the opportunity to provide them with such.”

Youth sports will now be $45 per child, with the exception of youth tackle football, which will be $55. The fee covers the cost of items like jerseys, caps, shirts, pompoms and flag belts, as well as use of referees, ballfield lights, and facilities.  Each participant is awarded a participation certificate, and in some cases, a team trophy. Church Youth Softball League and Adult Softball League fees remain the same. Fee reduction requests are available for all youth sports.

“This fee increase puts the Enterprise Parks and Recreation more in line with neighboring programs like Dothan, Troy and Ozark,” Moore said.  “If you compare these new fees to other cities of comparable size like Opelika and Wetumpka, you’ll see we are still below those fees."

Moore presented the fee increase to the Enterprise City Council at the June 20 meeting, and the request was unanimously approved.
