Enterprise Christmas Parade route change approved for 2023

Enterprise City Council Tuesday unanimously approved a route change for the 2023 Enterprise Christmas parade citing citizens’ safety due to construction downtown.

The parade, scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 28, will begin at the intersection of North Main Street and Watts Street.  The parade will continue down Main Street until turning left onto Easy Street, right onto Edwards Street, right onto Grubbs Street, and left onto Main Street.

“Simply put, the route change is because there is construction going on downtown at the corner near the Boll Weevil monument and we want everyone to be as safe as possible,” City Councilman and Christmas Parade Committee Member Scotty Johnson said. “The barriers that are up go out into the parking spaces and it could potentially be hard for the floats, bands and ROTC to march around safely. We tried to think of our citizens and especially the little kids and we want everyone to be safe.”

The new route will pass directly in front of the Coffee County Courthouse, which will be the backdrop for the live television broadcast.

“By changing the route, we’ve also created more prime viewing spots for our community to enjoy the parade,” Johnson said. “We’ve walked it, we’ve looked at it, the City Engineer signed off on it. We think this is the best option this year.”

The proposal, presented by Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Erin Grantham, was the result of several meetings with the Enterprise Police and Fire Department Chiefs, the City Engineer, Christmas Parade Committee Members and the television production company, Patriot Production Group.

The theme for the Enterprise Christmas Parade is expected to be announced in October.  Nominations for the Grand Marshal will follow shortly thereafter.
