A record number of batters are headed to the plate this season as Enterprise Parks and Recreation’s baseball and softball season starts April 1.

“We have more than 600 baseball players and more than 250 softball players signed up for the season which starts next week,” Athletics Coordinator Tyler Keiser said.  “These players have been busy practicing, and we are excited to hear ‘Play Ball!’ as the games get underway.”

Keiser, a Maryland native, was hired by the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department (EPRD) in October.  He stepped into his role at a perfect time, according to EPRD Superintendent Blake Moore.

“Having Tyler on our team has really helped ensure our athletic programs are well organized and ready to serve our community,” Moore said. “He brings a fresh perspective to our department and shares an enthusiasm for youth sports that is contagious.”

Moore said that baseball and softball aren’t the only sports within EPRD that have experienced record numbers. Last year 2,163 youth participated in EPRD sports, culminating in 908 games.

“Every sport, to include baseball, softball, volleyball, football, flag football, and basketball have all grown in numbers since the 2021 season. This shows not only is our community invested in athletics, but they support our Enterprise Parks and Recreation program. We want to continue to grow and evolve and provide the best experience we can for the players and their families,” Moore said.

Games will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays with a 5:30 p.m. start at 12 ball fields all over the city.  Banners lining the outfield include logos from local sponsors.
