New playground equipment coming to Johnny Henderson Family Park

February 23,2024

Enterprise City Council Tuesday approved the purchase of some sensory-friendly playground equipment for Johnny Henderson Family Park.

The equipment includes a “Sensory Wave Climber Arch” which allows children of all abilities to enjoy climbing while enhancing sensory development.  The arch, which is intended for children ages 2-12, includes molded-in grips and handholds that provide additional support for children of all abilities.  The “Discover Cave” allows children to climb up and over or crawl in and through for discovery and exploration.  The cave includes hand grips and is intended for children ages 2-5.  A fun mirror and 12" bells will also be installed.

Billy Powell, Director of Community Services and Recreation said each year the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department works with the Enterprise Rotary Club to update the playground equipment at the park.

“We are thankful for the support of the Enterprise Rotary Club and all they have done and continue to do to pour into our parks and facilities for the betterment of our community,” Powell said. “The Club’s donations have been instrumental in not only creating such a vibrant and enriching playground for our children, but also to maintaining the equipment to provide safe and enjoyable experiences for years to come.”

Powell said the Rotary Club will donate $12,000 to cover the cost of the new equipment, which will be installed by members of the Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department.
