At Tuesday night’s Enterprise City Council meeting, Mayor William E. Cooper presented two city employees with Extra Mile Awards.

Assistant Director of Engineering Thomas Hardy and Enterprise Fire Department Battalion Chief Brian Beasley were each presented a plaque by the mayor for their contributions related to helping an elderly citizen earlier this year after new international building and fire codes were adopted.

Cooper said that both Hardy and Beasley, along with a team of other employees, were instrumental in the process, educating staff and council about the effort to increase safety and building requirements throughout the city. Shortly after the codes were adopted, Cooper said an elderly resident contacted the city about her living situation.

“The level of care these two men showed this particular resident is just one example of their desire to lead with servant’s hearts,” Cooper said. “They not only care about the codes, but the people impacted by them.”

The mayor said he is proud to have such outstanding individuals representing the City of Enterprise and thanked them for the example they set for other employees.
