The Sanitation Department strives to provide our residents with the best quality garbage collection service.  The City of Enterprise uses an Automated Garbage Collection Program. 

The Sanitation Department asks all residents to keep their garbage containers clean by washing it with a mild soap and water. You may also sanitize and control odors by rinsing the garbage container with a diluted bleach solution and rinsing it thoroughly.

How do I get garbage service started?

You will need to go to the Water Department located at Enterprise City Hall at 501 S. Main Street and complete the necessary paperwork to begin your service.  A deposit may be required.

In the event a holiday falls on my schedule day for garbage pick-up, what should I do?

What do I do if my garbage or yard debris is not picked up on my scheduled day?

If your garbage and/or yard debris is not picked up by 2 p.m. on your scheduled day, please call the Sanitation Department at (334) 348-2665.

I have a lot of yard debris that I would like to have picked up. What are the requirements? Is there an additional charge?

Yard debris is collected in accordance with the City of Enterprise Ordinance (Code 1978, § 19-48; Ord. No. 6-4-85-B, 6-4-85):

(1) Trees or parts of trees not more than six (6) inches in diameter and cut to less than six (6) feet in length will be collected if piled alongside the garbage or rubbish container. It shall be unlawful to place trees or parts of trees on any part of the street; that is, they shall be placed well behind the curbing.

(2) Boxes, crates, and cartons will not be collected unless deposited alongside the garbage or rubbish container.

(3) Large accumulations of magazines, newspapers or similar materials will be collected if deposited along the curb, but in no case shall they be placed in the street. There is a $25 charge if we pick up a full trailer load of yard debris. The charge will be added to your monthly water bill.

Where can I take my yard debris if I have missed my scheduled pick-up day?

Yard debris can be taken to the grinding site located on East Drive (off Coppinville Road). The grinding site is for City of Enterprise residents only, and a permit must be obtained from the Public Works Department before use of the grinding site. Proof of residency will be verified. The grinding site is open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays.

How can I dispose of paint cans or spray cans that are not empty?

Paint cans must be completely dry before disposing of in your household garbage. Dry the paint in the cans by taking the lids off and placing them outside in the sun for a few days. You can also fill cans with sand or kitty litter and let dry.

Spray cans must be completely empty before disposing of in your household garbage. Spray out all of the paint in the cans onto cardboard to ensure they are empty.

How can I dispose of oil, grease, or transmission fluids?

Oil, grease, and transmission fluids may be brought to the City of Enterprise Public Works shop located at 529 Glover Avenue. Please let the worker know if you would like the container returned when you drop off the fluid.

How can I dispose of batteries?

Batteries may be brought to the City of Enterprise Public Works shop at 529 Glover Avenue.

How do I dispose of tires?

Tires may be brought to the City of Enterprise Public Works shop at 529 Glover Avenue. Please note there is a fee charged depending on the type of tire.

How can I dispose of an appliance?

Appliances can be placed curbside and scheduled for pick up. Please contact the Sanitation Department and advise them of the type of appliance to schedule removal.

How can I dispose of furniture?

You may set furniture items out on your scheduled garbage day for pick-up of county debris. Please note there is a $50 charge plus an additional $20/ton landfill tipping fee if you have a full trailer load to be picked up.

What are considered county debris items?

County items are considered to be solid waste. They are items too large to fit in your household garbage container or items that should not be placed in with your household garbage such as old furnishings, appliances, and/or computers.

How can I dispose of building debris?

Building debris such as scrap lumber, plaster, roofing, concrete, brickbats or similar materials resulting from the construction, repair or demolition of any building or structure on private property, as well as dirt and rocks, will not be removed by the Sanitation Department. The owner/contractor shall be responsible for removal.
