Mayor featured speaker at Fort Rucker Black History program
Mayor William E. “Bill” Cooper was the keynote speaker at the Fort Rucker African American//Black History Month program Feb. 27 at Aviators’ Landing. The program is sponsored each year by the 1st Aviation Brigade and the Fort Rucker Equal Opportunity Office. Cooper, the first black mayor of Enterprise, spoke about his life and the African-American struggle for equality. He thanked all military personnel for their service. Pictured is Col. Tammy Baugh, commander of the 1st Aviation Brigade, presenting Cooper with an Eagle statue to commemorate his participation in the program. Also pictured is Mayor Cooper congratulating Pinedale Elementary School student Aiden Williams, who powerfully recited the poem “I Am Somebody” for the crowd.
