Enterprise Chapter 351 of the Experimental Aircraft Association will host its “Young Eagle Flight Rally” this Saturday at the Enterprise Municipal Airport.
The event offers free aircraft flights for those between the ages of 8 and 17. Registration begins at 8 a.m. A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a waiver for the child to be able to participate. Flights will operate between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., contingent upon satisfactory weather conditions.
“We are excited about continuing our Young Eagle Flight Rally Program,” Paul English, Jr., President of EAA Chapter 351 said. “In past events, we have attracted between 60 and 168 Young Eagles and their families to the airport.”
Additionally, a program geared toward adults who are interested in flying is scheduled for May 20, also to be held at the Enterprise Municipal Airport. The “Learn-to-Fly” event pairs adults with mentor pilots who will be available to support them through the process of obtaining an FAA pilot certificate. The event includes an information briefing, roundtable discussion with flight instructors, and culminates with an Eagle Flight provided by mentor pilots.
“This event will be our first program intended to introduce interested adults to the challenges and the fun of learning to fly,” English said. “We are excited about the potential we see in this program.”
Enterprise City Council approved both events during the April 4, 2023, meeting.
